Job Description

The Graduate Trainee – Accounts will undergo structured training within the Finance Department to develop practical skills in accounting, internal controls, taxation, financial reporting, and ERP systems.

The trainee will be exposed to real business environments and will be expected to take increasing responsibility over time.

This role is designed to groom future Accountants and Finance Leaders

Duties and Responsibilities

🔵 KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1️⃣ Accounting & Bookkeeping

Capture financial transactions in the ERP system (Odoo)

Process invoices, receipts, journals, and payments

Perform bank reconciliations

Maintain accurate financial records

2️⃣ Financial Reporting

Assist in preparation of monthly management accounts

Support budget tracking and variance analysis

Assist in cash flow monitoring

3️⃣ Tax & Compliance

Assist in VAT calculations and reconciliations

Support PAYE, NSSA, and other statutory submissions

Ensure compliance with tax regulations

4️⃣ Internal Controls & Systems

Support implementation of internal controls

Participate in stock counts and reconciliations

Ensure proper documentation and approval processes

Monitor proper use of the ERP system

5️⃣ Accounts Receivable & Payable

Follow up on outstanding debtors

Support supplier reconciliations

Maintain accurate aging schedules

🔵 TRAINING STRUCTURE

The Graduate Trainee will undergo:

ERP (Odoo) System Training

Tax Compliance Training

Financial Reporting Coaching

Internal Controls & Risk Management Training

Performance Review Sessions

Progress will be assessed quarterly.

Qualifications and Experience

🔵 QUALIFICATIONS

Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

Strong understanding of double-entry principles

Good analytical skills

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel

Knowledge of ERP systems
