Nash Paints is looking for a Financial Accountant who shall be responsible for ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining the integrity of the general ledger, ensuring compliance with IFRS and tax regulations, supporting audit processes, and providing financial analysis to support strategic and operational decision-making. The role also ensures effective financial controls across Head office Finance and branch operations.
1. Financial Reporting
• Prepare accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
• Ensure compliance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
• Prepare supporting schedules including accruals, prepayments, provisions, and reconciliations.
• Review financial data for completeness, accuracy, and consistency.
• Maintain financial reporting timetables and ensure deadlines are met.
2. Management Reporting
• Prepare monthly management accounts with detailed variance analysis.
• Provide commentary on financial performance, trends, and key business drivers.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes.
• Provide financial insights to support management decision-making.
• Prepare branch performance reports and profitability analysis.
3. General Ledger Management (Sage X3)
• Maintain and manage the integrity of the General Ledger in Sage X3.
• Review and post journals, ensuring completeness and accuracy.
• Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
• Investigate and resolve discrepancies.
• Ensure proper account classification and adherence to chart of accounts.
• Support system controls, data integrity, and financial system improvements.
4. Tax Compliance
• Ensure compliance with all statutory tax obligations.
• Prepare and submit tax returns including VAT, PAYE, Withholding Tax, and Corporate Tax.
• Maintain tax schedules and reconciliations.
• Liaise with tax authorities and external tax consultants.
• Ensure tax risks are identified, managed, and mitigated.
5. Costing Analysis and Reviews
• Perform product, branch, and operational cost analysis.
• Monitor cost structures and identify cost-saving opportunities.
• Review margins and profitability.
• Support pricing decisions through financial analysis.
• Ensure accuracy of cost allocations.
6. Audit Coordination (Internal and External)
• Prepare audit schedules and supporting documentation.
• Act as the key liaison between auditors and the organization.
• Ensure timely completion of audit requirements.
• Address audit queries and implement audit recommendations.
• Strengthen internal controls based on audit findings.
7. Financial Controls and Branch Finance Oversight
• Monitor and enforce financial controls across Head Office and branches.
• Review branch financial transactions and reconciliations.
• Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
• Identify control weaknesses and implement corrective actions.
• Support finance governance and risk management.
8. IFRS Compliance
o Ensure accounting treatment complies with IFRS requirements.
o Support implementation of new IFRS standards.
o Maintain accounting policies and procedures aligned with IFRS.
o Provide guidance on accounting treatment of complex transactions.
o Timely preparation of monthly financial reports.
o Accuracy and completeness of financial statements.
o Zero material audit findings attributable to accounting errors.
o Compliance with tax filing deadlines.
• Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in financial accounting.
• Experience working with ERP systems, preferably Sage X3.
• Experience in financial reporting, tax, and audit support
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field.
• Professional qualification: Qualified CA
