Duties and Responsibilities
• The duties and responsibilities of the post include:
• Having knowledge of plant biotechnology.
• A strong Microscopy background, aseptic techniques and knowledge of plant growth regulators.
• Extensive knowledge in gel electrophoresis, DNA extraction, and polymerase chain reactions (PCR).
• Having knowledge of the instruments used in plant biotechnology.
• Ability to apply modern technologies in plant biotechnology.
• Being responsible for preparing and setting up of student's practicals and in expected to participate in all research activities.
• He/she would be expected to work as a team member in all
Departmental activities.
• Should be prepared to work with students and researchers in the Department.
• General housekeeping and maintenance of laboratory equipment.
• Any other duties as may be assigned by the Chief Technician or the Chairperson of the Department.
Qualifications and Experience
Qualifications and Experience
• The successful candidate must have atleast:
~ Five (5) Ordinary level passes including Mathematics,
English and a Science subject.
• National Diploma (ND) in Applied Biological Sciences or related field (Higher National Diploma in Applied Biological Sciences an added advantage) and two (2) years post training experience in a University Science Laboratory or in industry.
