Applications are invited from suitably qualified persons to fill the following full-time position, two-year renewable contract, that has arisen within the Global Environmental Facility (GEF8) funded project titled “Urban and Peri-Urban Resilience through Investment for Sustainable Ecosystems in Zimbabwe”, being implemented by the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), with the Environmental Management Agency (EMA) as the Executing Agency.
Position: Technical Project Coordinator (TPC)
Station: Harare Metropolitan Province with travel to Bulawayo Metropolitan Province
Reporting to the Director for Environmental Management Services for EMA, the Technical Project Coordinator will be responsible for the day-to-day technical management of the project and for the overall planning, coordination, monitoring and reporting of project performance.

* Provide technical and strategic leadership to the project team and ensure comprehensive coordination for project implementation in close collaboration with project partners and stakeholders.
* Lead successful execution and delivery of all project planned performance results and provide close supervision to project staff.
* Ensure a high level of collaboration among participating cities and institutions at national and city levels to enhance their organizational and technical skills for informed participation in governance processes.
* Act as the primary point of contact among FAO, the Government of Zimbabwe and other key stakeholders, ensuring project execution adheres to national policies, project document framework, FAO and GEF guidelines.
* Ensure project operational compliance by the Executing Entity with all Operational Partner Agreement provisions during project implementation, including timely technical and financial reporting.
* Track the project’s progress and ensure timely delivery of inputs and outputs.
* Manage requests for provision of project financial resources using the format provided in the Operational Partner Agreement (OPA).
* Maintain documentation and evidence describing the proper and prudent use of project resources as per the Operational Partner Agreement, including making supporting documentation available to FAO and designated auditors when requested.
* Coordinate implementation of the project’s monitoring and communications plans.
* Submit the Operational Partner’s six-monthly technical and financial reports to EMA/FAO and facilitate information exchange between the Operational Partner and FAO where necessary.
* Inform the Project Steering Committee and the FAO Sub-Regional Office of any delays and difficulties arising during implementation to ensure timely corrective measures and support.
Qualifications and Experience
Qualifications, Experience and Competences
* Master’s degree or equivalent in Geography, Natural Resource Management, Forestry or Land Management, Ecology, or a related field.
* Extensive experience and knowledge of project management, liaising and negotiating with senior officials in Government, donor organizations or non-governmental organizations.
* Deep knowledge and understanding of UN agencies’ operational environment, development and Government structures in the country.
* Minimum of seven (7) years relevant professional experience, including practical experience in implementing interventions for the sustainable management of natural resources.
* Computer proficiency with fluency in Ndebele, English and Shona (mandatory).
