SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATOR
Grade: 12
Reports To: Town Secretary

Duties and Responsibilities
### Duties and Responsibilities
- Managing, maintaining and supporting the Council’s ICT infrastructure, systems and applications
- Administering servers, networks, databases, user accounts and related ICT resources
- Ensuring the availability, security, reliability and optimal performance of Council ICT systems.
- Developing and implementing ICT systems administration policies, procedures and standards
- Managing user access, permissions, passwords and system security controls
- Monitoring system performance and troubleshooting hardware, software and network-related problems
- Coordinating regular system backups, data recovery and disaster recovery processes
- Ensuring the security and integrity of Council data and information systems
- Supervising and providing technical guidance to ICT staff
- Planning and coordinating system upgrades, installations, maintenance and replacements
- Liaising with ICT service providers and other stakeholders on technical matters
- Providing technical support to Council departments and users.
- Preparing ICT systems administration reports and advising management on ICT-related matters.
- Ensuring compliance with relevant ICT legislation, policies, standards and Council procedures
- Performing any other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor
Qualifications and Experience
### Person Specification
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, Computer Engineering or a related field from a recognised institution
- A relevant professional ICT qualification or certification will be an added advantage
- At least 3 years’ relevant post qualification experience in systems administration, network administration or ICT infrastructure management, preferably in a managerial or supervisory capacity
- Experience in managing servers, networks, databases, operating systems and enterprise ICT environments
- Experience in ICT security, backup and disaster recovery systems
- Knowledge of local authority operations and public-sector ICT systems will be an added advantage
- Clean Class 4 driver’s licence
