JOB VACANCY
POSITION: SURVEYOR
Zimbabwe Mining Development Corporation (ZMDC) is a major player in the Zimbabwean mining industry and a key contributor to the growth of the national economy through mining and mineral development. The Corporation is inviting applications from suitably qualified and experienced candidates for the position of Surveyor.
JOB PURPOSE
A Surveyor is responsible for conducting precise measurements of mining claims and property boundaries. This role ensures compliance with Zimbabwean mining laws, contributes to safe and efficient extraction, and supports ZMDC’s mandate of advancing national mineral development.
Duties and Responsibilities
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Conduct field surveys using GPS, total stations, and other instruments.
• Establish and confirm property lines in compliance with legal records.
• Prepare maps, plans, and diagrams showing terrain, elevations, and features.
• Conduct underground and surface surveys to guide mining operations.
• Provide layout and reference points for engineers and contractors.
• Compile survey reports, sketches, and certificates for submission to authorities.
• Ability to work in underground and surface mining environments.
• Quantity Surveying: Oversee project measurements and valuation.
• Carry out cadastral work.
• Carry claims survey.
• Fieldwork: pegging of Mining claims and knowledge of the Mines and Minerals Act.
• Office work: Map reading, data analysis, preparation of maps, and report writing.
• Collaboration: Close with Geologist, PMD’s office and other sections.
Qualifications and Experience
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
• Degree or Diploma in Surveying, Geomatics, or related field.
• Registration with the Association of Mine Surveyors of Zimbabwe.
• Registration with the Surveyors Council of Zimbabwe (equivalent professional body).
• Minimum of 3–5 years’ experience in Mine or Land Surveying.
• Proficiency in GIS software, AutoCAD, and modern surveying equipment.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
