Marist Brothers High School Dete, located in the Hwange District of Matabeleland North Province, is a public Catholic mission school that offers secondary education. The school is owned by the Catholic Diocese of Hwange and operates as a co-educational boarding institution committed to forming well-rounded students. Rooted in the Marist tradition of holistic education, the school is dedicated to developing learners physically, mentally, spiritually and morally.

Duties and Responsibilities

As the Deputy Head, you will be an integral part of the school's leadership team. Your key responsibilities will include:

• To stand in for the School Head in his/her absence
• To assist the Head in managing all aspects of the school operations
• To maintain the Catholic ethos
• To enhance the school's academic performance by devising and implementing effective teaching methodologies and educational programs
• To maintain a good tone of discipline in the school (for both teachers and students)
• To support the implementation of the school curriculum and assessment strategies
• To provide mentorship and professional development opportunities for staff
• To assist in maintaining a safe and inclusive school environment
• To ensure that the school operations are in compliance with statutory directives and standards of the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education.
• To build and nurture strong relationships with the Catholic church officials, parents, the community, and stakeholders
• To create a safe, positive and empowering learning environment for students
• To supervise the non-teaching staff teaching and to report on their performance as may be required.

Qualifications and Experience

• Applicants should be on government payroll (SSB)
• Applicants should be practising Catholics with a strong commitment to Catholic education
• A degree holder with a teaching subject (up to A’level)
• Relevant teaching experience and leadership capabilities
• Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
• Knowledge of current educational policies and practices
• A track record of delivering positive educational outcomes
• Possession of a Class 4 Driver’s licence is an added advantage
