POST A: SENIOR ASSISTANT LIBRARIAN 4 POSTS (KWEKWE CAMPUS 2 POSTS, ZVISHAVANE CAMPUS 1 POST, GWERU CAMPUS 1 POST)
Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced candidates for Senior Assistant Librarian posts. The successful candidates will support the delivery of Library and Information Services, provide research assistance to staff and students, and assist in the Management and Development of both print and electronic information resources.

Managing the automated library management and circulation system for issuing, returning, and renewing legal materials, including textbooks, law reports, loose-leaf services, statutory instruments, and government gazettes.
Guiding students and staff in the effective use of subscription legal databases (such as LexisNexis, Juta Stat, HeinOnline, Optima Legal, and Taylor and Francis) and open-access legal information sources (such as ZimLII, AfricanLII, and Worldlii), and assisting with basic and advanced searches of these databases.
Providing specialised legal research assistance to LLB, LLM, and Paralegal students and staff, including case-law and statute tracing.
Delivering current-awareness and legal-updating services that alert users to newly enacted legislation, statutory instruments, amendments, and recent judgments relevant to the legal curriculum and ongoing research.
Conducting library orientation sessions for incoming undergraduate law students, and supporting moot court preparation, legal clinics, and student research.
Assisting the Law Librarian in selecting, evaluating, maintaining, and organising open-shelf textbooks and the core collections.
Supervising and scheduling junior library assistants and overseeing weekend and evening shift operations as required.
Managing daily operations at the Law Library information desk, ensuring prompt, courteous, and equitable access to resources while maintaining a conducive environment for learning and research.
Participating in broader university library initiatives, including interlibrary loans, research consultations, digitisation projects, and community engagement activities.
Implementing procedures and workflow routines which can be used to accomplish objectives and improve efficiency of the Information Services section.
Participating in Library Administration activities and assigned tasks.
Implementing systems to accomplish effective information access and retrieval by students and staff.
Implementing procedures for selective dissemination of information and current awareness services to students and staff.
Coordinating Information Literacy Skills (ILS) programme for both students and staff
Identifies new information trends and recommends new technologies.
Acts as the link between the Faculty and Library in providing knowledge of academic and research programs sufficient to ensure that collections and services support the curriculum and research needs of the University.
Qualifications and Experience
Qualifications and Experience
An undergraduate Degree in Library and Information Science.
At least three (3) years of relevant work experience in an academic Library.
