SUMMARY DESCRIPTION:
In this role in investment Operations, you will be accountable for defining and implementing strategic enhancements through each phase of the trading, custody, and fund accounting cycle. You will liaise directly with the front office team, service providers, brokers, clients, and custody teams to gather critical data, reflecting comprehensive insights on fund accounting systems to generate precise reporting and audit requests.
This position will encompass diverse responsibilities, including investment process support, comprehensive pre- and post-trade oversight, portfolio management compliance, liquidity and counterparty reporting, performance measurement and reporting, and strategic initiatives aimed at continuously enhancing investment management practices. Duties and Responsibilities
Responsibilities:
• Track fund performance by monitoring NAV and comparing it against market levels.
• Reconcile daily fund activities, including cash, trades, settlements, and investor transactions.
• Ensure the accuracy of fund NAV, resolve accounting issues, and process investor-related transactions.
• Manage external service providers, including sourcing, evaluating, and managing various outsourced resources such as executing brokers, custodians, administrators, and other outsourced resources.
• Provide internal support for responses to regulators and preparation of legal documentations.
• Spearhead the setting up of adequate trading, valuation, and reporting structures whenever the business launches new financial products/sub-funds.
o Assist in investing and trading cryptocurrencies and derivatives, including options and futures.
• Analyze large-scale datasets to identify trading signals and improve investment strategies.
• Calculate profit and loss, perform shareholder-specific valuations, and review trade capture for accuracy.
• Work in partnership with product teams to resolve issues and client change requests as they occur and implement overall processes.
• Maintain internal client support logs plus documentation of processes.
Qualifications and Experience
Experience and Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in accounting, economics, finance, computer science, mathematics, engineering, or a related quantitative field.
• Holding of industry certifications (CA (Z), CA (SA), CFA, ACCA, CIPM, CAIA) is an added advantage.
• 6+ years Previous investment operations experience in a Back Office and or Middle Office within the Wealth Management, Asset Management Industry, and Outsourcing Industry.
• Strong knowledge of a range of asset classes, such as Equity, Fixed Income, Real Estate, Unit Trusts/Collectives, and a wide range of Alternative Investment Classes.
• Strong understanding of capital markets and financial instruments.
• Experience working in a time-sensitive investment operations environment.
• Previous experience with various asset management and accounting platforms is a key requirement.
• Investment performance measurement and SQL skills preferred. Proficiency in Python and experience with APIs.
• Previous experience with task management tools is preferred.
• Previous trade support and experience in SSI’s and SWIFT, DTCC CTM & TradeSuite.
• Knowledge of the investment life cycle.
• Experience in performance measurement and analysis tasks (Desirable)
• Proven ability to meet strict periodic deliverables.
• Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
