Zimbabwe Platinum Mines (Pvt) Limited (ZIMPLATS) is the largest platinum group metals producer in Zimbabwe. It owns and operates the Selous Metallurgical Complex (SMC), Ngezi Concentrator and the Ngezi Underground Mines

POSITION DESCRIPTION

This position will be part of the dynamic team based at Mupani Mine, reporting to the Senior Mine Manager.

JOB TITLE – Section Manager

JOB GRADING – DH

Duties and Responsibilities

Leads and manages all mining activities within the section to ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective operations.
Ensures compliance with mining regulations, company policies, safety standards, and environmental requirements.
Monitors operational performance and implements corrective actions to improve productivity and operational
efficiency.
Controls section operating costs and ensures expenditure remains within approved budget.
Coordinates maintenance and availability of mining equipment to minimize downtime and production disruptions.
Develops and mentors' supervisors and subordinates to build operational capability.
Conducts regular VFLs, inspections, audits, and investigations to ensure adherence to operational and safety standards.
Prepares and submits operational, safety, and performance reports as required.
Facilitates effective communication and engagement with employees and section worker leader
Supports implementation of continuous improvement initiatives and the business management systems (BMS)

Qualifications and Experience

Degree/Diploma in Mining Engineering or related discipline
Full Blasting License.
Mine Manager's Certificate of Competency is an added advantage
A minimum of 8 years' mining experience at supervisory level in an underground large-scale mechanised mine.
Proven leadership and people management experience in mining operations.
Sound knowledge of mining legislation, safety standards, and operational best practices.
LEADERSHIP COMPETENCIES:

Self-starter with strong leadership qualities, excellent interpersonal, planning and problem-solving skills
Communicates effectively at all levels
