Job Description

Job Summary

Zinc Limited is seeking a motivated, commercially focused, and results-driven Sales and Marketing Officer to support the company's business development, sales, customer relationship management, and marketing activities.

The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying new business opportunities, developing relationships with existing and prospective customers, promoting Zinc Limited's products and fabrication services, preparing quotations, following up on sales leads, and contributing to the company's revenue growth.

The position requires a strong understanding of customer needs, excellent communication and negotiation skills, commercial awareness, and the ability to understand and communicate technical product information.

Key Responsibilities

1. Sales Development

  • Identify and pursue new sales opportunities within the construction, automotive, engineering, manufacturing, and industrial sectors.

  • Develop and maintain a pipeline of prospective customers.

  • Conduct market research to identify potential clients, projects, industries, and business opportunities.

  • Contact prospective customers through telephone calls, email, meetings, networking, and other appropriate channels.

  • Present Zinc Limited's products and services to potential and existing customers.

  • Follow up on leads, enquiries, quotations, and proposals.

  • Convert qualified leads into confirmed sales and long-term customer relationships.

  • Achieve agreed monthly, quarterly, and annual sales targets.

2. Customer Relationship Management

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with existing customers.

  • Regularly communicate with customers to understand their requirements and identify additional opportunities.

  • Act as a key point of contact for customers throughout the sales process.

  • Respond promptly and professionally to customer enquiries.

  • Gather customer feedback and communicate relevant information to management and production teams.

  • Maintain accurate customer records and sales activity reports.

  • Support customer retention and repeat business initiatives.

3. Product and Service Promotion

  • Promote Zinc Limited's range of metal products, fabrication services, and engineering solutions.

  • Develop a strong understanding of the company's products, production capabilities, specifications, and applications.

  • Explain product features, benefits, specifications, and applications to customers.

  • Identify opportunities for customized or bespoke fabrication solutions.

  • Work with technical and production teams to ensure customer requirements can be met.

  • Keep customers informed about new products, services, capabilities, and promotional offers.

4. Quotations and Sales Proposals

  • Receive and assess customer enquiries and requests for quotations.

  • Gather the technical and commercial information required to prepare accurate quotations.

  • Work with production, engineering, and procurement teams to determine costs, lead times, and technical requirements.

  • Prepare professional quotations and proposals for customers.

  • Follow up quotations and negotiate commercial terms within approved company guidelines.

  • Maintain records of quotations and monitor conversion rates.

  • Ensure customer orders are accurately documented and communicated to relevant departments.

5. Business Development

  • Identify new markets and customer segments for Zinc Limited's products and services.

  • Develop strategies for increasing the company's market share.

  • Research competitors, pricing, industry trends, and customer requirements.

  • Identify major construction, infrastructure, automotive, engineering, and industrial projects that may create sales opportunities.

  • Establish relationships with contractors, manufacturers, engineers, project managers, distributors, and other potential clients.

  • Participate in networking events, trade exhibitions, industry meetings, and business-development activities.

6. Marketing Activities

  • Support the development and implementation of Zinc Limited's marketing strategy.

  • Promote the company's brand, products, and services across appropriate marketing channels.

  • Assist with the preparation of brochures, product presentations, company profiles, promotional materials, and other marketing content.

  • Manage and update company social media platforms where required.

  • Assist with digital marketing campaigns and online promotional activities.

  • Coordinate promotional campaigns and product awareness initiatives.

  • Monitor marketing activities and provide reports on their effectiveness.

7. Digital and Online Marketing

  • Maintain an active and professional online presence for Zinc Limited.

  • Develop engaging content highlighting the company's products, projects, capabilities, and achievements.

  • Assist with website content updates and product information.

  • Use social media platforms to generate brand awareness and sales leads.

  • Monitor online engagement, enquiries, and customer responses.

  • Explore digital marketing opportunities relevant to the manufacturing and industrial sectors.

8. Market Research and Analysis

  • Conduct regular market research to understand customer needs and industry developments.

  • Monitor competitor products, pricing, services, and marketing activities.

  • Identify emerging opportunities in the construction, automotive, manufacturing, and industrial sectors.

  • Analyze customer purchasing trends and market demand.

  • Provide management with insights and recommendations based on market research.

  • Identify potential risks and opportunities affecting sales performance.

9. Sales Administration

  • Maintain accurate records of customers, leads, opportunities, quotations, and sales.

  • Update the company's customer relationship management (CRM) system where applicable.

  • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly sales reports.

  • Track sales performance against targets.

  • Maintain records of customer meetings, calls, enquiries, and follow-ups.

  • Ensure sales documentation is complete and accurate.

  • Coordinate with finance regarding customer accounts, payments, and outstanding balances where required.

10. Order and Delivery Coordination

  • Coordinate confirmed customer orders with the production and operations teams.

  • Communicate customer specifications and delivery requirements accurately.

  • Monitor order progress and keep customers informed of production and delivery timelines.

  • Coordinate with logistics and dispatch teams to support timely delivery.

  • Address customer concerns relating to orders, delivery, product specifications, or service.

  • Escalate significant customer issues to management promptly.

11. Customer Service and After-Sales Support

  • Maintain professional communication with customers after sales have been completed.

  • Follow up with customers to confirm satisfaction with products and services.

  • Handle customer complaints professionally and work with relevant departments to resolve them.

  • Identify opportunities for repeat orders and additional products or services.

  • Build long-term relationships that encourage customer loyalty and referrals.

12. Internal Collaboration

  • Work closely with the Production Department to understand production capacity and lead times.

  • Coordinate with Engineering regarding technical specifications and customized products.

  • Work with Procurement to understand material availability and pricing.

  • Liaise with Finance regarding pricing, customer accounts, and payments.

  • Coordinate with Logistics and Stores regarding customer deliveries.

  • Provide management with accurate information regarding market demand and customer requirements.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

Performance will be measured against key indicators including:

  • Achievement of monthly and annual sales targets

  • Number of qualified sales leads generated

  • Lead-to-customer conversion rate

Required Qualifications

  • Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Sales, Business Administration, Commerce, or a related field.

  • A qualification in sales, marketing, business development, or a related discipline is an advantage.

  • Training in digital marketing, CRM systems, or business development will be beneficial.

Required Experience

  • Minimum of 2–4 years' experience in sales, marketing, business development, or a related commercial role.

  • Experience in manufacturing, engineering, construction, automotive, industrial products, or technical sales is highly desirable.

  • Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets.

  • Experience preparing quotations, proposals, and sales reports.

  • Experience developing and maintaining business-to-business customer relationships.

  • Experience using CRM systems and digital marketing platforms is an advantage.

Working Environment

The successful candidate may also be required to visit Zinc Limited's manufacturing facilities to understand production processes and provide customers with accurate information regarding the company's capabilities.
