Duties and Responsibilities of a Retail Pharmacist

Reporting to the Chief Pharmacist

• Dispense prescription medications accurately and provide appropriate counseling to patients
• Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care
• Review and interpret prescription orders to verify accuracy and appropriateness
• Maintain accurate patient records, including medication histories and interactions
• Oversee and manage the pharmacy's inventory, ordering and restocking medications as needed
• Provide information and guidance to customers regarding over-the-counter medications and health-related products
• Monitor patient health and progress to identify any potential issues or complications
• Address customer inquiries, concerns, and medication-related questions
• Ensure compliance with statutory bodies and state pharmacy laws and regulations
• Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to promote patient wellness and disease prevention
• Make real time claims for patients covered by medical insurance
• Engage with medical insurance companies on, registration, claims
• Supervise dispensary assistants
• Plan, organize and supervise locums
• Make retail budget and submit to Chief Pharmacist
• Make yearly operations strategy for the pharmacy
• Make monthly stock reports
