The Radiographer is responsible for providing radiography services and assisting in the diagnosis of lung health conditions at the New Start Centre clinic and during outreach. The role involves preparing patients for chest X-ray, operating the ultraportable CAD4TB equipment, maintaining the equipment and ensuring accurate data collection, and interpretation of results, as well as coordinating with clinicians to ensure timely and effective patient management, in line with MoHCC and PSH guidelines.
• Liaises with clinical staff in the preparation of patients for radiographic investigation.
• Ensures radiation protection for patients, clinic staff and the environment.
• Triages patients and ensures that those in need of urgent assistance are given priority.
• Carries out radiographic imaging and submits the reports to clinicians.
• Identifies and refers cases needing specialized imaging as appropriate.
• Ensures that radiography equipment is secure, functional, and well maintained.
• Ensures that digital x-rays are correctly and safely stored.
• Requests for supplies necessary for x-ray services.
• Participate in research whenever required.
• Compiles and submits relevant periodic reports as required.
• Ensures regulatory compliance with the Radiation Protection Authority, City laws, bylaws and standards, and always adheres to professional Code of conduct in the execution of his/her duties.
• Any other duty that may be assigned by accredited supervisors.
• BSc (Hons) Radiography or Diploma in Radiography or equivalent.
• Registered with Allied Health Practitioners’ Council of Zimbabwe.
• At least 2 years of experience performing radiography services in a clinical setting, preferably using digital x-ray equipment.
• Excellent patient communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a healthcare team.
• Knowledge of infection control practices and patient safety protocols.
