As part of our continued growth, we are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Quality Assurance Officer to join our team and help maintain the highest standards of quality across our manufacturing and fabrication operations.
Job Summary
The Quality Assurance Officer will be responsible for implementing, monitoring, and continuously improving Zinc Limited's quality assurance systems and processes.
The successful candidate will work closely with production, engineering, procurement, maintenance, stores, and management teams to ensure that raw materials, manufacturing processes, finished products, and services consistently meet established specifications, customer requirements, and applicable industry standards.
The role will involve conducting inspections, monitoring production processes, investigating non-conformances, maintaining quality documentation, supporting audits, and promoting a culture of continuous quality improvement throughout the organization.
Key Responsibilities
1. Quality Assurance Systems
Implement and maintain Zinc Limited's quality assurance procedures and systems.
Ensure manufacturing processes comply with approved quality standards and procedures.
Monitor the effectiveness of quality management processes across production operations.
Assist in developing and reviewing quality policies, procedures, work instructions, and inspection plans.
Ensure quality requirements are clearly communicated to production and technical teams.
Identify opportunities to strengthen the company's quality management system.
2. Incoming Material Inspection
Inspect raw materials and components received from suppliers.
Verify materials against purchase orders, specifications, drawings, certificates, and other approved documentation.
Inspect ferrous and non-ferrous metals for required dimensions, grade, thickness, surface condition, and other specifications.
Identify and document defective or non-conforming materials.
Work with Procurement and Stores to address supplier-related quality issues.
Maintain records of incoming material inspections.
3. Production Quality Control
Monitor manufacturing processes to ensure compliance with approved specifications.
Conduct routine inspections throughout the production process.
Verify dimensions, tolerances, surface finish, weld quality, assembly, and other product characteristics.
Identify quality issues at an early stage to minimize waste and rework.
Work closely with production personnel to resolve quality problems.
Ensure quality checkpoints are completed at appropriate stages of production.
Verify that corrective actions have been effectively implemented.
4. Finished Product Inspection
Conduct final inspections of completed products before dispatch.
Verify finished products against customer specifications, engineering drawings, purchase orders, and quality requirements.
Check dimensions, appearance, functionality, finishing, assembly, and other relevant characteristics.
Ensure products meet required standards before release to customers.
Prepare and maintain final inspection reports.
Approve or recommend rejection of products based on established quality criteria.
5. Non-Conformance Management
Identify, record, investigate, and report non-conforming materials, products, and processes.
Raise non-conformance reports where required.
Work with production and engineering teams to determine root causes of quality failures.
Recommend corrective and preventive actions.
Monitor implementation of corrective actions.
Verify that corrective actions have resolved the underlying problem.
Maintain accurate records of non-conformances and corrective actions.
6. Root Cause Analysis and Continuous Improvement
Investigate recurring quality problems using appropriate root-cause analysis techniques.
Participate in corrective and preventive action programs.
Identify trends in defects, rework, customer complaints, and production failures.
Recommend improvements to manufacturing processes.
Work with production teams to reduce defects, waste, and rework.
Support continuous improvement initiatives such as Lean Manufacturing, 5S, and process optimization.
7. Measurement and Testing
Conduct or coordinate product measurements and quality tests.
Use appropriate measuring instruments and inspection equipment.
Ensure measuring equipment is properly maintained and calibrated.
Verify that inspection equipment is suitable for the required measurements.
Maintain calibration records and identify equipment requiring calibration or replacement.
Ensure inspection results are accurately recorded.
8. Engineering Drawing and Specification Review
Interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, product standards, and inspection requirements.
Verify that manufactured products conform to approved drawings and specifications.
Work with engineers and production personnel to clarify technical requirements.
Identify potential quality risks before production begins.
Assist with the development of inspection and testing plans for new products.
9. Supplier Quality Management
Assist in monitoring the quality performance of suppliers.
Evaluate incoming materials for compliance with specifications.
Document and communicate supplier-related quality issues.
Support supplier corrective action processes.
Provide quality feedback to the Procurement Department.
Participate in supplier assessments and audits where required.
10. Customer Complaints and Quality Issues
Assist in investigating customer complaints relating to product quality.
Gather relevant production and inspection records.
Identify the root cause of customer complaints.
Coordinate corrective actions with relevant departments.
Prepare quality reports and responses where required.
Monitor customer complaint trends and recommend preventive measures.
11. Quality Documentation and Records
Maintain accurate quality records and documentation.
Prepare inspection reports, non-conformance reports, corrective action reports, and quality summaries.
Maintain records of material inspections, process inspections, final inspections, testing, and calibration.
Ensure quality documents are properly controlled and accessible.
Assist with document reviews and revisions.
Maintain confidentiality and integrity of quality-related information.
12. Quality Audits
Participate in internal quality audits.
Assist with external and customer audits.
Prepare documentation and evidence required for audits.
Identify areas of non-compliance and opportunities for improvement.
Follow up on audit findings and corrective actions.
Support the organization's ongoing compliance with applicable quality management standards.
13. Health, Safety and Environmental Compliance
Follow all company health and safety procedures while conducting inspections and working in production areas.
Ensure quality activities do not compromise workplace safety.
Report unsafe conditions and quality-related hazards.
Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
Support environmental and waste-reduction initiatives.
Ensure rejected materials and defective products are properly identified and controlled.
14. Staff Training and Quality Awareness
Assist in training production employees on quality procedures and requirements.
Promote awareness of customer specifications and quality standards.
Educate employees on proper inspection procedures and defect prevention.
Encourage employees to identify and report quality problems.
Promote a culture of quality, accountability, and continuous improvement.
15. Quality Reporting
Prepare regular quality performance reports for management.
Monitor defect rates, rejection rates, rework, scrap, and customer complaints.
Analyze quality trends and identify recurring issues.
Report significant quality risks to the Quality Assurance Manager or Production Manager.
Recommend actions to improve quality performance.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
The Quality Assurance Officer will be measured against key performance indicators including:

Required Qualifications
Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Quality Management, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
Professional qualification in Quality Management or Quality Assurance is an advantage.
Training or certification in ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems is highly desirable.
Additional qualifications in welding inspection, non-destructive testing (NDT), metallurgy, or manufacturing quality will be an advantage.
Required Experience
Minimum of 2–4 years' experience in quality assurance, quality control, inspection, or manufacturing.
Experience in metal manufacturing, fabrication, engineering, automotive, construction, mining, or industrial production is highly desirable.
Experience conducting inspections in a manufacturing environment.
Experience with non-conformance management and root-cause analysis.
Experience working with engineering drawings and technical specifications.
Experience with ISO-based quality management systems is an advantage.

Working Environment
The Quality Assurance Officer will work across Zinc Limited's manufacturing facility, production floor, quality laboratory or inspection areas, warehouse, and other operational areas.
The position may involve exposure to machinery, metalworking operations, welding, noise, heat, dust, and industrial equipment. Appropriate personal protective equipment and safety procedures must be followed at all times.
The role may occasionally require overtime or weekend work depending on production schedules and customer requirements.
