Job description
The Public Relations and Communication Specialist is responsible for developing and implementing communication strategies that promote a positive institutional image and ensure effective information flow to internal and external stakeholders. This role involves managing media relations, creating and disseminating content across various platforms and coordinating public engagement activities and events. It also includes monitoring public and media sentiment, responding to communication inquiries and evaluating the effectiveness of communication initiatives to strengthen visibility, reputation and stakeholder engagement.
Duties and Responsibilities
Key responsibilities
Develop and implement communication strategies aligned with institutional goals to ensure consistent and effective messaging.
Identify target audiences and tailor communication approaches to enhance engagement and impact.
Create, edit and disseminate high-quality content for internal and external communication channels.
Manage media relations by responding to inquiries, pitching stories and maintaining relationships with journalists and media houses.
Coordinate public relations activities, including press releases, campaigns and stakeholder communication initiatives.
Organize and manage events such as press conferences, workshops, seminars and public engagements.
Monitor media coverage, social media platforms and public sentiment and respond appropriately to enhance reputation.
Evaluate communication effectiveness and prepare reports to guide continuous improvement of communication strategies.
Qualifications and Experience
Requirements
A Bachelor’s degree in Media, Mass Communication, Public Relations or equivalent.
At least 3 years of relevant experience in Public Relations, Corporate communications or Media relations.
Key competencies
Exceptional writing, editing and public speaking abilities.
Strong interpersonal and stakeholder engagement.
Good planning, coordination and event management skills.
Ability to monitor, analyse and report on communication impact and media coverage.
Proficiency in digital communication tools.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
