Background
The International Committee for Museums and Collections of Modern Art (CIMAM) is hosting a landmark 58th Annual Conference in Harare, Zimbabwe—the first time the event will be held on the African continent. This historic gathering will convene global museum leaders, curators, and cultural practitioners to engage in dialogue, exchange expertise, and celebrate Africa’s contribution to modern and contemporary art. It also poses as another opportunity to showcase Zimbabwe as a premier tourist destination, rich in culture and artistic talent.
To ensure the success of this prestigious event, the National Gallery of Zimbabwe seeks to engage a professional Conference Coordinator/Events Manager through a consultancy arrangement.
Scope of Work
The individual/company will be responsible for:
• Planning, organizing, and executing all conference logistics.
• Coordinating with international and local stakeholders, including CIMAM Board members, sponsors, and partners.
• Managing venue setup, technical requirements, and delegate services.
• Overseeing hospitality, cultural programming, and post-conference tours (including Victoria Falls).
• Ensuring seamless communication, branding, and visibility of the event.
Required Skills and Qualifications
• Proven track record in large-scale event management.
• Strong organizational and project management skills.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.
• Familiarity with cultural institutions, museums, or arts-related events.
• Capacity to manage budgets, contracts, and compliance requirements.
• Creative problem-solving and ability to deliver under pressure.
• Experience in coordinating multimedia, marketing, and donor engagement.
