Precision Technician – GPS & Agricultural Systems x 1

Job Description

The Precision Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, calibrating, and troubleshooting precision farming equipment, with a focus on GPS-guided systems, sensors, and agricultural software. The role supports farming operations through the application of advanced technology to optimize yields, reduce waste, and enhance data-driven decision-making.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Install and configure GPS systems, auto-steering devices, and variable rate technology (VRT) on tractors, sprayers, and harvesters.
• Conduct regular calibration, testing, and maintenance of GPS receivers, yield monitors, soil sensors, and drone equipment.
• Interpret data from agricultural software (e.g., GIS mapping, RTK networks) to support agronomic decisions.
• Train farm operators on proper use of precision equipment and software platforms.
• Diagnose faults and perform repairs or recommend service on electronic control units and field sensors.
• Coordinate with agronomy and mechanical teams to ensure technology integration into daily operations.
• Document and maintain records of installations, diagnostics, calibrations, and technical interventions.

Qualifications and Experience

• National Diploma or Degree in Precision Agriculture, Agricultural Engineering, Electronics, or related field.
• At least 2–3 years of hands-on experience with GPS systems and agricultural machinery (John Deere, Case, etc)
• Proficiency in GIS mapping software and variable rate control systems.
• Strong diagnostic, analytical, and troubleshooting skills.
• Valid driver’s license
• Technical accuracy and attention to detail

• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
