Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and highly motivated Plant Metallurgist to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for optimizing metallurgical processes at the mine, focusing on the extraction and processing of minerals. This role involves developing and implementing strategies to improve recovery rates and product quality while ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
• Oversee daily operations of the ball mill, round mill, and crushing circuit.
• Supervise and monitor vat leaching processes (40T and 50T tanks) and chemical dosing.
• Guide operations toward CIP plant expansion and implement metallurgical best practices.
• Monitor and improve gold recovery efficiency through sampling, data analysis, and process control.
• Manage reagent handling (cyanide, caustic soda), pH control, and carbon handling (soaking, elution).
• Maintain accurate metallurgical records, including clarifier sampling, grade tracking, and cycle logs.
• Collaborate with site supervisors, samplers, and geologists to ensure consistency and traceability.
• Contribute to staff training, shift supervision, and safety enforcement in processing areas.
• Capability to advance from managing a single mine to overseeing operations across multiple mines within the organization.
Requirements:
• Degree or Diploma in Metallurgy, or related field.
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in gold processing (milling, leaching, and CIP operations).
• Strong understanding of gold recovery chemistry, plant troubleshooting, and sampling protocols.
• Hands-on attitude with the work in a small team in a rural location.
• Strong reporting, Excel/data tracking, and problem-solving skills.
• Willingness to live on site in Inyathi (company accommodation provided).
• Based in Bulawayo or surrounding areas preferred.
Added Advantage:
• Experience implementing and refining leaching and elution systems.
• Prior exposure to small-scale mining environments.
• Ability to train and lead junior plant staff.
• Familiarity with audit and stock control systems (e.g., for carbon and chemical usage).
