The Nurse-in-Charge (Community) is responsible for overseeing and coordinating community-based clinical services, ensuring quality, compliance, and effective integration with health facilities and district health authorities. The role provides clinical leadership to outreach teams delivering HIV, SRHR, family planning, and related services.
Your Contribution – Key Responsibilities.
• Leads and supervises community-based nursing and outreach teams.
• Ensures provision of quality HIV, SRHR, family planning, and primary health services.
• Ensures adherence to national clinical guidelines and protocols.
• Provides clinical mentorship and on-site support to nurses and outreach staff.
• Coordinates mobile and community outreach activities.
• Ensures effective referral and linkage between community services and health facilities.
• Participates in joint planning meetings with facility teams and district health authorities.
• Supports reaching mobile and hard-to-reach populations, including AGYW.
• Conducts routine quality improvement and supportive supervision visits.
• Ensures infection prevention and control standards are maintained.
• Supports clinical audits, DQAs, and compliance assessments.
• Ensures ethical standards, confidentiality, and client safety.
• Oversees accurate documentation of community clinical services.
• Reviews and validates HTS, SRHR, and FP data prior to submission.
• Supports data quality improvement and reporting timelines.
• Monitors availability of medicines, test kits, and consumables for outreach.
• Supports forecasting, ordering, and stock management.
• Ensures proper storage, handling, and accountability of supplies.
• Liaises with health facilities, District Health Authorities, and community leaders.
• Supports coordination with implementing partners.
• Represents the programme at district-level meetings as required.
What Are We Looking For?
• Registered General Nurse (RGN) with a valid practicing certificate.
• Additional training in HIV, SRHR, or community health is an advantage.
• Minimum of 3–5 years’ nursing experience, including community or outreach services.
• Previous supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
