Duties & Responsibilities
Supervising, mentoring, and evaluating the Network Administrator and Systems Administrator;
Coordinating infrastructure operations, ensuring effective workflows and system reliability;
Establishing standards for system configuration, monitoring, and maintenance;
Architect, configuring and optimizing university networks (LAN, WAN, WLAN, VPN);
Overseeing server infrastructure, virtualization and cloud service integrations;
Ensure scalability, high availability, and disaster recovery readiness of IT infrastructure;
Monitoring network and system performance, identifying and resolving issues proactively;
Implementing robust security controls, firewalls, and access management solutions;
Work with academic and administrative units to align infrastructure with institutional goals;
Providing technical leadership during system upgrades, migrations, and technology roll outs;
Supporting cross-functional projects requiring networking and system integration;
Staying up to date with current networking and systems technology trends (cloud, virtualization, Zero Trust, 5G/Wi-Fi 6);
Recommending and implementing new technologies to enhance performance and reduce costs.
Qualifications and Experience
Applicants should have a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems or related field;
Must have a professional certification (e.g. Cisco CCNA/CCNP/CCIE, CompTIA Network+, Microsoft Certified: Systems Engineer, VMware Certified Professional, Cyber Security);
Applicants must have three (3) years’ experience in computer networks, network engineering, systems administration, or IT infrastructure management in a university set up;
Strong knowledge of networking technologies (routers, switches, firewalls, VPNs, wireless);
Experience with operating systems (Linux, Windows Server, Unix) and virtualization platforms (VMware, Hyper-V).
Familiarity with cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, GCP);
Strong leadership, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to design secure, scalable, and high-performance network and system solutions.
