production, processing, safety, people, equipment and operational performance. The Mine Manager will be permanently based
at the mine.

EMPLOYMENT
Full-time · Permanent
THE ROLE
The central purpose of this position is safe and profitable mining. The Mine Manager turns the orebody and mining opportunity
into planned, controlled and measurable daily activities. Mining must follow clear development and production plans, defined
targets, measurements, controls, safety standards and accountability. The Mine Manager is the person responsible for the
mine and must know when to engage specialist support, brief consultants, and understand and apply their recommendations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Safety and compliance
Make safety the first priority. Conduct workplace inspections; identify and control hazards; ensure safe drilling, charging and blasting,
explosives handling, post-blast re-entry, ventilation, ground support, shaft and hoisting operations, and PPE. Investigate incidents,
deliver toolbox talks, implement corrective action and stop unsafe work. Comply with applicable Zimbabwean mining, occupational
health, safety and environmental legislation.
Mine management and leadership
Lead day-to-day mining, development and processing. Translate Directorsʼ objectives into disciplined, supervised and recorded
routines across supervisors, miners, plant personnel, clerks and general workers.
Mine planning and development
Prepare short-, medium- and long-term mine plans and daily, weekly and monthly production programmes. Set mining sequences
and development priorities; keep shafts, levels, drives, crosscuts, raises, stoping and access ahead of production, with suitable
ventilation, ground support, drainage, dewatering and hoisting arrangements.
Mining operations and production targets
Direct drilling, charging, blasting, lashing, hoisting, tramming, ore and waste handling, stockpiling and ore delivery to the plant. Track
development and production metres, holes drilled, tonnes mined and moved, labour productivity, equipment utilisation and mining
cost; investigate shortfalls.
Geology, ore control and survey
Work with the appointed geologist and mine surveyors to follow the reef, limit dilution and ore losses, distinguish ore from waste,
coordinate sampling and grade control, interpret geological information, align development with the plan, and reconcile volumes and
tonnages. Mineral processing and performance
Oversee crushing, milling and recovery; match mining output to plant capacity; monitor throughput, recovery and downtime; maintain
accountability for gold-bearing material; and reconcile ore mined, ore processed and gold recovered. Track KPIs including tonnes,
metres, equipment availability, productivity, fuel and explosives consumption, grade and cost per tonne and per gram.
MINE MANAGER | FULL-TIME, PERMANENT 1
Duties and Responsibilities
Cost control and equipment
Contribute to operating budgets, control labour, fuel, explosives, equipment and downtime, monitor expenditure against production,
analyse costs, eliminate wastage and recommend efficient mining methods. Ensure machinery is operated and maintained properly
through preventive maintenance, prioritised repairs and justified spares.
People and reporting
Lead and develop supervisors and crews through clear instructions, work allocation, pre-shift briefings, targets, attendance and
productivity monitoring, discipline and training. Be physically present underground and at the plant. Provide daily, weekly and monthly
reports to the Directors on safety, manpower, development, production, processing, equipment, downtime, gold output, costs, issues
and upcoming plans.
THE PERSON WE ARE LOOKING FOR
This is a hands-on operational and leadership appointment. You will spend significant time underground and in the plant,
examining workings, reading geology and mine plans, engaging crews, identifying problems, allocating resources and
explaining operational and financial performance to the Directors. You must be able to prepare and implement a mine plan and
make sound day-to-day mining and safety decisions independently. Success means connecting every metre developed and
every tonne mined to safety, recovery, cost and profit—not tonnage alone.
Qualifications and Experience

Essential qualifications
• Bachelorʼs degree in Mining Engineering, Mining and Mineral Processing Engineering, or a closely related recognised
qualification.
• Valid mine blasting / mining competency licence relevant to the position.
• Practical underground gold-mining experience and ability to interpret mine plans, geological information and production data.
• Mine planning and design knowledge, with previous supervisory or mine-management experience.

• A statutory mining qualification or certificate of competency recognised in Zimbabwe.

Experience

mine-management experience. An exceptionally strong Mining Engineer with slightly less experience will still be considered.
Preferred exposure includes underground gold mining, mine development, drilling and blasting, production scheduling, mine
planning, gold processing, crew management and operating-cost control.
PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES
• Strong leadership, integrity and personal accountability.
• Genuine safety consciousness, sound judgement, and ability to work independently and under pressure.
• Hands-on, self-directed problem-solver with strong planning skills, target orientation and attention to detail.
