Job Overview:
An established small-scale gold mine is seeking a skilled, experienced and safety conscious Mine Gang Leader to supervise, coordinate and lead underground mining teams. The incumbent will ensure daily production targets are met safely and in compliance with mining regulations.
Duties and Responsibilities
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Supervise daily activities and coordinate the workflow of the assigned mining gang/team.
- Leading the section, monitoring team performance to ensure production and safety targets are archived.
- Making sure all working areas are declared safe before operations begin (safety of blasted ends, barring down, support installation).
- Ability to work under pressure, with minimal supervision.
- Grade control.
- Oversee or assist with the safe handling, utilization and transportation of explosives.
- Conduct pre-shift safety talks, inspect equipment and report hazards or mechanical faults immediately.
Qualifications and Experience
Minimum Qualifications and Requirements:
- 5 O’levels including Maths and Science.
- 5 years of hands-on, underground experience within the mining industry.
- Valid Mining Blasting License (MBL).
- Strong leadership, communication and problem-solving skills.
- First Aid certificate is an added advantage.
