Duties and Responsibilities
Monitors and optimizes metallurgical performance across all plant sections, including crushing, milling, leaching, CIP/CIL, elution, electrowinning, smelting, and TSF.
Conducts daily plant sampling, mass balancing, reagent consumption tracking, and metallurgical accounting.
Ensures plant throughput and recovery targets are met by identifying process bottlenecks and implementing corrective actions.
Develops, reviews, and implements metallurgical procedures, standards, and improvement initiatives.
Provides technical guidance to operations teams on process control, reagent dosing, carbon management, and plant troubleshooting.
Monitors carbon activity, attrition, inventory balance, and regeneration efficiency; makes recommendations to maintain optimum CIL performance.
Reviews and interprets laboratory results, metallurgical test work, and process data for continuous improvement.
Prepares weekly and monthly metallurgical performance reports and production forecasts.
Optimizes energy, water, and reagent usage to reduce cost per tonne milled.
Oversees calibration and integrity of process measurement devices (flow meters, density gauges, etc.).
Manages plant trials, research projects, and process optimization studies.
Ensures compliance with ISO, SHEQ standards, environmental regulations, cyanide code requirements, and internal procedures.
Conducts operator training on metallurgical concepts, safe work practices, and process control.
Coordinates carbon movement, elution planning, and dore production schedules with relevant departments.
Troubleshoots plant upsets, equipment failures, and process deviations to maintain stable plant operation.
Oversees sampling integrity, assay quality, and laboratory QA/QC programs.
Participates in risk assessments, HAZOPs, incident investigations, and root-cause analysis.

Qualifications
BSc Degree or Diploma in Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering, Mineral Processing, or related discipline.
Experience in plant troubleshooting, metallurgical accounting, sampling systems, and carbon management is essential.
