Position: Media, Communication and Marketing Intern
Location: Harare, Zimbabwe
Duration: 12 Months (with possibility of extension based on performance and funding)
About Silveira House
Silveira House – Jesuit Social Justice and Development Centre – is a Catholic non-governmental organization founded in 1964 by the Society of Jesus (Jesuits). The institution promotes social justice, peacebuilding, leadership development, good governance, sustainable livelihoods, and community empowerment in Zimbabwe through training, research, and advocacy.
Position Summary
Silveira House seeks a dynamic, creative, and motivated Media, Communication and Marketing Intern to support the visibility and branding of its programs and initiatives. The intern will work closely with program and administrative teams to enhance internal and external communication, manage digital platforms, and contribute to the organization’s marketing and public relations strategy.
Key Responsibilities
• Develop and implement communication materials (press releases, newsletters, success stories, social media posts, brochures, and reports).
• Manage and update the organization’s website and social media platforms.
• Capture and edit photos and videos for project documentation and publicity.
• Assist in developing marketing strategies to promote Silveira House’s brand and activities.
• Support event planning, media coverage, and public engagement initiatives.
• Maintain a digital archive of media and promotional materials.
• Contribute to monitoring media coverage and preparing visibility reports.
Qualifications and Competencies
• A degree or diploma in Media Studies, Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing, or a related field.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English (knowledge of local languages an advantage).
• Proficiency in digital communication tools and platforms (Facebook, X, Instagram, LinkedIn, etc.).
• Basic skills in photography, videography, and design (e.g., Canva, Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro).
• Creative, proactive, and able to work independently and collaboratively.
• Commitment to the values of social justice, community development, and ethical communication.
