Duties and Responsibilities

Duties and Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be expected to provide academic leadership to the Department. Initiate, guide and contribute to basic and applied research, innovation and industrialisation programmes in the Department as well as teach the following modules at Undergraduate and Postgraduate level:
 Pump technology, Fluid Mechanics, Hydrology, Design of Irrigation systems and Irrigation water management.
 Demonstrate ability to supervise student lab work, conducting and publishing their research work
 Ability to spearhead novel technologies for improved efficiency of water and water saving irrigation technologies.
 Must have a traceable track record of conducting relevant research and publishing in reputable, peer-reviewed journals.
 Ability to mobilise resources through writing research and grant proposals independently
 Ability to work as part of a team in a culturally-diverse environment
 Ability to demonstrate academic leadership that will contribute in invigorating department instruction, curricular innovation and increased research productivity in line with 5.0 thrust of Higher Education Training

Qualifications and Experience

Applicants must at least have an earned a Master’s Degree in Irrigation and Water Engineering or a closely related discipline. A Bachelor’s degree in Irrigation Engineering or a closely related discipline is a must. Applicants with a PhD in Irrigation Engineering or registered PhD candidates and University teaching experience is an added advantage.

In addition, the candidate will be expected to coordinate and participate in the supervision of Undergraduate and Postgraduate research students. University teaching experience is an added advantage.
