Duties and Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

 Carrying out routine diagnostic laboratory work on patient samples for diagnosis and management monitoring and treatment of the patients
 Ordering, inventory, storage and general stock control of all laboratory consumables and non-consumables
 Maintenance, calibration and ensuring servicing of lab equipment
 Supervising all lab personnel and activities
 Training i.e. being involved in all hospital training programmes where necessary or when need arises
 Making sure all lab results are out on time i.e. lab results turn over
 Laboratory internal and external quality control
 Compiling monthly, quarterly and annual statistics and reports
 Lab outbreak management
 Participating in EPA activities and programmes and notifiable disease consciousness
 General coordination, packaging, communicating and receipt of all samples and results for ALL REFERRAL tests
 Supervision of nursing staff doing rapid HIV testing in the prevention of mother to child transmission programmes

Qualifications and Experience

Qualifications & Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Laboratory Science or equivalent
5 Ordinary levels including Mathematics and English
Three (3) years’ experience in a similar environment

Ability to handle pressure and work with minimum supervision
