Laboratory Technician

Job Description

The Union Zimbabwe Trust is seeking a highly skilled Laboratory Technician to join our team following a recent award from the UNOPS, FC-SDS Project.

The duration of the contract is 3 months, with extension subject to availability of funds.

Duties and Responsibilities

Community-Based Testing: Conduct rapid diagnostic tests for TB and other respiratory infections in community settings.
Sample Collection and Handling: Collect and properly handle biological samples for TB testing, ensuring quality and accuracy of results.
Data Management: Record and report test results, following established data management protocols.
Equipment Maintenance: Ensure proper maintenance and calibration of diagnostic equipment used for TB testing. Keep track of relevant diagnostic consumables.

Qualifications and Experience

Bachelors Degree or Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology.
Work Experience: At least 3 years proven experience working within the Ministry of Health or a similar public health organization.
TB Testing Experience: Experience in conducting TB diagnostic tests, including rapid molecular tests.
Field work Skills: Ability to work effectively in community-based settings and adapt to varying field conditions.
Advantage: Advantage if candidate is able to drive manual vehicle.
