About Chewore Conservation Trust
The Chewore Conservation Trust (CCT) is the on-the-ground implementation partner of the Awe for Nature Foundation. Under a 25-year collaborative management agreement with the Zimbabwe Parks and Wildlife Management Authority (ZimParks), CCT manages a 200,000-hectare portion of Chewore South, forming roughly one-third of the Mana Pools, Sapi and Chewore UNESCO World Heritage Site.
In this landscape, CCT is pioneering a progressive conservation model to transform how the area is protected and financed. By pairing direct, frontline conservation operations with innovative mechanisms like biodiversity credits, CCT blends sustainable tourism, habitat restoration, and local community upliftment. This initiative serves as the blueprint for a scalable, long-term conservation model designed to protect biodiversity, mitigate key threats like poaching and illegal mining, and
restore vital ecosystems across the landscape.
The Role
This is an entry-level position for a recent graduate looking to build a career in conservation intelligence and law enforcement analysis. Working as part of the team, you will support the Intelligence Unit by collecting, organising, and analysing information that directly protects wildlife in Chewore South and the surrounding communities.
You are not expected to know everything on day one. You will receive comprehensive on-the-job
training in intelligence tradecraft, analytical methods, and the software systems used by the Unit. In return, you will be expected to learn quickly, work with precision, and follow established procedures without exception.
Duties and Responsibilities
What You Will Do
• Capture, log and file information from field reports, patrol data and other sources into the
Unit's systems.
• Maintain organised, cross-referenced intelligence files and databases.
• Produce draft situation reports, incident summaries and basic analytical products under the
guidance of senior staff.
• Help track patterns in poaching incidents, wildlife trafficking, illegal fishing, and unauthorised
entry into the Park.
• Support briefings for internal teams and, where directed, external partners.
• Assist investigations by pulling together background information, timelines and link charts on
persons of interest.
• Build and maintain good working relationships with rangers, community scouts, and Park staff
who provide information to the Unit.
• Follow the Unit's Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Standard Security Operating
Procedures (SSOPs) at all times.
• Handle all information with discretion. Confidentiality is non-negotiable.
Qualifications and Experience
What We Are Looking For
Essential:
• A Zimbabwean School Certificate of Education (ZSCE) as a minimum.
• A university degree or diploma in a relevant field: criminology, security studies, intelligence
studies, geography/GIS, data analysis, wildlife management, environmental science, or similar.
• Strong written and spoken English.
• Proficiency in Shona.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
• A willingness to live and work in a remote bush environment in the Lower Zambezi Valley.
• Honesty, discretion, and personal integrity beyond doubt.
Desirable:
• Knowledge of Chikunda, Nyanja or any other local language spoken in the Zambezi Valley.
• Familiarity with GIS tools (QGIS, Google Earth), EarthRanger, or similar conservation platforms.
• Prior exposure to law enforcement, security or conservation work through internships or
fieldwork.
• A valid Class 4 driver's licence.

Working Conditions
Chewore South is a remote wilderness area. This role is based in the field, not in a city.
Accommodation is provided on site. Travel to and from the Park is arranged on a rotation basis.
Candidates must be physically fit and mentally prepared for long periods away from urban centres, family, and reliable connectivity.
