Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and strategic Inventory & Supply Chain Manager to oversee and optimize our supply chain operations across our three core divisions: Furniture Manufacturing, Building Materials, and Construction/Renovations.
In this role, you will be responsible for end-to-end supply chain management—including procurement, local and international supplier negotiations, warehouse management, inventory control, and logistics coordination. You will ensure that raw materials, finished products, and construction supplies are sourced cost-effectively and delivered on time to support production schedules, showroom demand, and active site projects.
Key Responsibilities
1. Inventory Control & Warehouse Management
Oversee multi-site inventory across warehouses, showrooms, and construction storage yards.
Implement robust stock tracking systems to maintain accurate stock levels, minimize shrinkage, and prevent stockouts or overstock situations.
Conduct regular physical stock audits, cycle counts, and reconciliations against system records.
Manage stock replenishment triggers for fast-moving building materials and furniture manufacturing components.
2. Procurement & Supplier Relations
Source high-grade raw materials, imported timber, hardware, construction materials, and specialized components.
Build and manage relationships with local and international suppliers, vendors, and manufacturers.
Negotiate pricing, payment terms, minimum order quantities (MOQs), and delivery schedules to maximize cost efficiency.
Evaluate supplier performance continuously based on quality, timeliness, and cost competitiveness.
3. Logistics & Import Management
Coordinate global and regional freight forwarding, customs clearance, port handling, and border compliance into Zimbabwe.
Oversee local fleet logistics, managing dispatch schedules for customer deliveries and construction site material deliveries across Harare and surrounding areas.
Ensure all imported goods meet local regulatory standards and Zimbabwean customs requirements.
4. Operational Strategy & Process Optimization
Analyze supply chain data, demand forecasts, and lead times to improve operational workflows.
Collaborate closely with Project Managers, Master Carpenters, and Sales teams to align procurement schedules with project timelines and showroom inventory needs.
Implement lean inventory management methodologies to reduce holding costs and waste.
Qualifications & Key Requirements
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Procurement, Business Administration, or a related field.
Experience: 5+ years of proven experience in supply chain, logistics, or inventory management—preferably within manufacturing, building materials, hardware, or construction industries.
Systems Proficiency: Strong experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software, Inventory Management Systems (IMS), and advanced MS Excel/Google Sheets.
Local Context Knowledge: Strong understanding of import/export procedures, Zimbabwean border operations, duty structures, and local supply network logistics.
Skills: Strong negotiation skills, analytical thinking, leadership ability, and attention to detail under tight deadlines.
