Internal Auditor
Zimnat General Insurance is a leading insurer dedicated to sound governance, strong risk management and regulatory excellence. We are looking for an experienced, analytical, and results-driven Internal Auditor to join our Internal Audit team.
Duties and Responsibilities
The Job
* Plan and execute risk-based internal audit assignments in line with the approved annual audit plan.
* Evaluate the adequacy and effectiveness of internal controls, risk management, and governance processes.
* Audit core insurance operations including underwriting, claims, reinsurance, premium collections, treasury, and finance.
* Assess compliance with IPEC regulations, statutory requirements, company policies, and applicable accounting standards.
* Prepare clear, concise, and high-quality audit reports with practical recommendations for management.
* Track and follow up on agreed management actions to ensure timely resolution of audit findings.
* Apply data analytics techniques to enhance audit coverage, identify anomalies, and detect fraud indicators.
* Participate in investigations and special reviews as required.
* Supervise, coach, and mentor junior audit team members.
* Contribute to annual audit planning, enterprise risk assessments, and Board Audit Committee reporting.
Qualifications and Experience
The Person
* Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Auditing, Finance, or a related commercial discipline.
* A recognised professional qualification (CA(Z), CA(SA), ACCA, CIMA, or CIA), with membership in good standing.
* 3–5 years’ relevant post-qualification experience in internal or external audit, including at least 2 years at senior or supervisory level.
* Experience in insurance, financial services, or another regulated environment is a distinct advantage.
* Sound knowledge of risk-based auditing, internal control frameworks, corporate governance, Enterprise Risk Management, IPEC regulations and the Insurance Act, IFRS (including IFRS 17), and relevant tax legislation.
* Proficiency in audit and data analytics tools such as IDEA, ACL, Power BI, and Advanced Excel; ERP and insurance core system experience is an advantage.
* High levels of integrity, objectivity, and professionalism, with strong analytical, report-writing, and stakeholder management skills.
* Sound judgement, leadership and coaching ability, and a professional, continuous-improvement mindset.
