About Ponesai Vanhu Technical College
Established in 1981, Ponesai Vanhu Technical College is a permanent DAPP Zimbabwe project dedicated to equipping youth with self-reliance skills. Over the decades, the college has evolved to meet market demands, accrediting all courses with registered examination boards and training over 7,800 youth across various disciplines.

Job Summary
We are seeking a talented and dynamic Hotel and Catering Teacher. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality vocational training, ensuring students meet HEXCO standards, and achieving set targets for college projects. We are looking for an innovative educator who blends technical expertise with an entrepreneurial mindset. The teacher will be housed at the college’s teacher houses. The successful candidate will benefit from staff housing located conveniently on the college’s premises.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Plan, prepare and deliver comprehensive theory and practical lessons in Hotel and Catering in accordance with HEXCO and college syllabus.
• Set, invigilate, and mark internal examinations
• Prepare students for external HEXCO examinations and ensure all accreditation requirements are met.
• Oversee the college kitchen and dining facilities, ensuring high standards of hygiene, safety, and efficient use of resources during practical sessions.
• Lead income-generating projects (hubs) within the department, fostering an entrepreneurial spirit among students.
• Act as a role model and mentor to students, providing career guidance and fostering professional discipline.
• Lead and organize college events, catering functions, and community outreach programs.
• Maintain accurate student records, attendance registers and departmental inventory
• Submit timely progress reports to the Principal.

Qualifications and Experience

Qualifications and Experience
• Higher National Diploma (HND) or Degree in Tourism and Hospitality Management
• A teaching qualification or experience in technical vocational training.
• Additional qualifications in Entrepreneurship or Interior Decoration are highly desirable.
• Minimum of 2 years of teaching experience with traceable references. Must have experience handling HEXCO or University accreditation processes.
• Candidates between 30 and 40 years of age are preferred.

Skills and Abilities
• Highly organized, detail-oriented and able to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work in a team environment and adapt to remote/hard-to-reach areas.
• Innovation-driven with the ability to take initiative and build new capacities.
• Clean criminal record.
