1. THE JOB
We are seeking an experienced, results-driven Workshop Foreman. With safety as the
foremost priority, the successful candidate will be responsible for establishing, implementing
and enforcing effective systems for the maintenance and repair of mobile mining equipment.
The incumbent will lead and develop a team dedicated to ensuring the reliability, availability
and operational readiness of the mobile fleet at all times.
Duties and Responsibilities
2. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
a. Oversee all daily workshop operations and maintenance activities
b. Develop, implement, and enforce SOPs, work instructions, and maintenance systems
c. Lead and co-ordinate breakdown responses to minimise equipment downtime
d. Assess reported defects and determine the most effective corrective action
e. Ensure all scheduled maintenance is completed on time and to standard
f. Maintain accurate, detailed service and maintenance records
g. Continuously monitor machine condition, performance, and availability
h. Support the maintenance planner in scheduling and resource allocation
i. Enforce operator compliance with pre-start inspection procedures
j. Train operators on pre-start checks and machine performance awareness
k. Ensure all activities comply with approved safety standards
l. Supervise, mentor, and develop workshop technicians and mechanics
Qualifications and Experience
3. QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
a. Class 1 Artisan – Diesel Plant Fitter OR Degree in Mechanical Engineering
b. At least 10 years in mining operations, with 5+ years in a leadership role supervising
mechanics, artisans, or maintenance technicians
c. Experience setting up and running workshops for mining machinery
d. Proven ability to design and implement workshop management systems, SOPs, and
maintenance schedules
e. At least a Class 2 Driver’s Licence
f. Strong leadership, problem-solving under pressure, attention to detail, and a safety-first
mindset
