Foreman (Diesel Plant Fitter)

Job Description

We are looking for a highly organized and experienced Foreman to oversee the maintenance and repair operations of our company’s vehicle fleet. The Foreman is responsible for ensuring that all vehicles are operating safely, efficiently, and in compliance with all relevant regulations. This role involves managing a team of mechanics and technicians, scheduling regular maintenance, coordinating repairs, maintaining accurate records, and implementing cost-effective strategies to maximize fleet uptime and minimize expenses.

Duties and Responsibilities

 Oversee daily maintenance and repair operations for the vehicle fleet
 Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules
 Manage and supervise a team of mechanics and technicians
 Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards
 Monitor fleet performance and address recurring issues
 Maintain accurate records of maintenance, repairs, and inspections
 Manage budgets for parts, labour, and external services
 Source and negotiate with vendors for parts and services
 Utilize fleet management software to track activities
 Coordinate emergency repairs and breakdown responses
 Train staff on maintenance procedures and safety protocols

Qualifications and Experience

• Apprenticeship trained in Diesel Plant Fitting with 5 years post qualification
• experience OR Trade tested Skilled Worker Class 1 in Diesel Plant Fitting with 5
• years post qualification experience.
• National Craft Certificate in Diesel Plant Fitting.
• Trade tested Skilled Worker Class 1 in Diesel Plant Fitting.
• 5 ‘O’ Levels including English, Maths and Science
• Clean Class 2 or 4 driver’s licence
