FARM MANAGER (FIXED TERM CONTRACT)

The above-mentioned position has risen within TIMB and applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced persons to fill the position on a one-year fixed-term contract. The successful candidate will be based at STOW MUHACHA FARM – MASHONALAND WEST PROVINCE.

Duties and Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

* Developing work schedules, assigning tasks, and monitoring productivity and staff attendance.
* Resource management planning and controlling.
* Preparing plans and work schedules for planting, weed and pest management, and harvesting.
* Maintaining accurate records of input stocks for seed, fertilizer, chemicals, and curing materials.
* Recruiting, deploying, supervising and training labour across farm operations.
* Handling labour issues – disputes, grievances and disciplinary matters in line with regulations.
* Scheduling repairs, maintenance and replacement of equipment and machinery.
* Producing and maintaining farm records.
* Ensuring all staff adhere to health and safety standards.
* Managing curing operations and supervising the forced draught curing system, including Chongololo and Batch Curers.
* Managing the cooperative’s activities including stakeholder relations, member training, task allocation and distribution of resources.

Qualifications and Experience

Minimum Qualifications & Experience

* National Certificate/Diploma/Higher National Diploma/Degree in Agriculture, Agronomy/Farm Management or equivalent.
* Post Graduate Certificate in Tobacco Production is an added advantage.
* At least 3 years’ experience in Commercial farming.
* Practical experience with forced draught curing systems, including Chongololo and Batch curers.
* Valid Class 4 driver’s licence.
* Valid Class 3 rider’s licence is an added advantage.

Other Requirements/Competences

* Knowledge of Zimbabwe’s farm labour laws and farm labour management practices.
* Excellent communication and report-writing abilities.
* Good organisational and time-management skills.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
