Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced individuals to fill the above vacancy that has arisen in the Fabrication Department. The successful candidate will report to the Fabrication manager and will be responsible for supervising and coordinating boilermakers and welders to ensure that fabrication, repair and maintenance work is completed safely, efficiently and to the required standards.
Duties and Responsibilities
• Provide technical guidance and hands-on support in welding, boilermaking, structural fabrication, repairs and maintenance.
• Oversee the fabrication, refurbishment, repair and maintenance of haul bins, tipper bins, trailer systems and other industrial equipment.
• Supervise repairs and rebuilds of machinery components, including harvester components, excavator and loader buckets, and other yellow-machine attachments.
• Oversee hard-facing and other wear-protection work on harvesters and machine components.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications and equipment manuals, and ensure work is completed accordingly.
• Ensure all fabrication and welding activities are carried out in accordance with company safety procedures and applicable standards.
• Monitor the use, condition and availability of fabrication tools, welding equipment and materials.
• Maintain good housekeeping and ensure a safe, organised and productive fabrication workshop
• Identify fabrication and maintenance problems, provide practical solutions and escalate major issues to the Fabrication Manager.
• Mentor and develop junior artisans and apprentices and promote teamwork and good work practices.
Qualifications and Experience
• National Certificate in Boilermaking / Welding.
• Class 1 Journeyman Certificate in Boilermaking/ Welding.
• At least 5 years experience working as a boilermaker/ Welder, preferably with 3 years on supervisory or chargehand role.
• Proven ability to supervise and coordinate boilermakers, welders and fabrication teams.
