Trócaire has been supporting projects in Zimbabwe since the 1970’s. Informed by our global strategy, our current country programme works in 4 main areas: 1) Supporting Women and Girls’ Protection, Voice, and Leadership, 2) Climate and Environmental Justice 3) Active Citizenship and Access to Justice, and 4) Disasters and Emergencies – Saving Lives and Protecting Human Dignity. Across our programmes, we work with our partners to promote women’s empowerment and advocacy as a core strategy in executing our work, with 80% of programme participants being women and girls across all outcome areas. Currently, we work in partnership with 26 local organisations supporting projects in several districts in Manicaland, Mashonaland West, Masvingo, Midlands, Matabeleland North, and Matabeleland South Provinces.
Trócaire Zimbabwe is inviting expressions of interest from Local NGOs and other Development Agencies operating at a local level in Masvingo and Manicaland Provinces in work related to Gender and Climate Change/Justice, designed to sustain food, energy and water security. Such work which should have a significant focus on women and girls related focus can include improved access to labour saving technology, equipment, and tools for cultivation, harvesting, food storage, water-lifting, and produce processing and markets.
