CeSHHAR Zimbabwe is an organisation that specialises in population health research and programming, including on sexual and reproductive health and HIV/AIDS. CeSHHAR has an extensive national, regional, and international academic and community partnership network. CeSHHAR has a diverse range of funders which include the Wellcome Trust, the Gates Foundation, UK Medical Research Council, Templeton World Charity Foundation, Global Fund for AIDS TB and Malaria, UNICEF and UNFPA. We partner very closely with the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine (UK). CeSHHAR is implementing a National Key Population programme on behalf of National AIDS Council and Ministry of Health and Child Care in all 10 provinces in Zimbabwe. The DIC Nurse Counsellor ensures delivery of comprehensive prevention, treatment, and care services to all sex workers in their diversity at the static, local outreach, night outreach and mobile sites by ensuring clients receive timely, high quality, efficient and effective health care services.Ensures continued availability of drugs/commodities and working equipment needed to properly carry out clinical work
• Performing routine physical examination on all clients i.e., temp, B/P, pulse, and routine physical examination on all eligible clients.
• Examination and provision of treatment and care for Sexually Transmitted Infections and other reproductive health concerns according to National Guidelines.
• Performing rapid syphilis testing on eligible clients.
• Prescription and dispensing of drugs appropriately.
• Pre and post-test counselling and risk reduction and HIV management.
• Performing Rapid HIV testing in accordance with National Algorithm.
• Initiation of all clients who test HIV Pos on appropriate ARVs at the static site and at the community level.
• Initiation of PrEP to clients who test HIV negative and are eligible.
• Offering Family Planning counselling services – ability to insert Long-Acting contraceptive devices per clients’ needs.
• Ensuring appropriate clinical care for survivors of sexual assault (GBV) and safeguarding the rights and safety of clients including provision of non-judgmental, non-stigmatizing prevention, treatment, and care services.
• Maintaining proper documentation of all clinical and laboratory procedures on all program clients.
• Properly updating and maintenance of MOHCC and internal clinical records.
• Compiling daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly statistics of all indicators and clinic reports.
• Quality maintenance of site drug rooms and ordering drugs and other clinical sundries.
• Ensures Infection Prevention Control measures are well maintained to reduce communicable infections.
• Attending clinic meetings and keeping records.
• Doing any other duties as assigned by the Site Manager/Lead, Regional Coordinator.
• Scheduling of mobile clinic visits and maintaining cordial relationships with other Implementing Partners and health service providers
• Integration of referrals, layering, and linkages to other Implementing DREAMS Partners.
• Establishing professionalism and respect for confidentiality amongst all clinical staff and clients.
• Attend all CeSHHAR Zimbabwe scheduled trainings
Diploma / BSC in general Nursing. A registered general nurse with valid practicing, forensic, ART Training and Rapid HIV Testing certificates. Post Basic Training in Midwifery. Family Planning with LARC
Certificate / Diploma in Counselling is an added advantage.At least 3 years clinical experience in HIV prevention, treatment and care for key populations.
Strong interpersonal skills, especially in the areas of managing clients. Effective verbal and written communications; Good knowledge on use of Microsoft word, excel and power point; Good interpersonal communication skills and having high respect for confidentiality.
Demonstrated experience in conducting HIV Index Case Contact Tracing and Testing a requirement; Experience in providing family planning services such as Jadelle insertion. Expected to work outside of normal office hours as required.
