The Finance BI Developer is responsible for designing, building, and maintaining business intelligence solutions that support finance and insurance processes, compliance, and decision‐making. This includes developing intuitive dashboards, data models, and reports tailored to user needs, optimizing data flows from source systems into analytics platforms, and collaborating with the Lead: Data, Insights & Reporting to embed best practices in governance and visualization. The role demands a blend of technical expertise, financial domain knowledge, and strong communication to deliver actionable insights.

Duties and Responsibilities

BI Solution Development
Design and implement Power BI dashboards (or equivalent BI tools) that present financial metrics, KPIs, and analyses in an engaging, user‐friendly manner.
Collaborate with data engineering teams to define and optimize ETL pipelines, ensuring data accuracy and timely refreshes.
Data Modelling & Architecture
Develop and maintain robust data models, including star/snowflake schemas, ensuring efficient querying and performance.
Validate data across multiple sources (e.g., Data Lake, relational databases) to maintain consistency and integrity.
Reporting & Visualization
Implement best‐practice visual design principles, ensuring that dashboards communicate insights clearly to finance, actuarial, and executive stakeholders.
Create ad hoc and standardized reports that cater to regular finance cycles, regulatory reporting, or management insights.
Stakeholder Engagement & Support
Liaise with finance teams to gather reporting requirements, clarify needs, and provide guidance on data availability.
Offer user training and troubleshooting support, addressing feedback to enhance report usability and performance.
Performance Monitoring & Optimization
Monitor report performance and data refresh cycles, identifying bottlenecks or inefficiencies.
Optimize dataset structures, queries, or calculations to achieve fast, scalable, and reliable reporting solutions.
Continuous Improvement & Collaboration
Participate in agile rituals (stand‐ups, retrospectives, etc.), proactively identifying areas for improvement in the BI landscape.
Align with the Lead: Data, Insights & Reporting on data governance, standardization, and best practices across the analytics ecosystem.

Qualifications and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Finance, or related field.
Work Experience:
3+ years of hands‐on experience in BI development, data visualization, or reporting.
Experience in Financial Services or insurance analytics preferred.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in Power BI (or similar tools such as Tableau, Qlik) including DAX, data modelling, and dashboard design.
Strong SQL skills for querying and transforming data; familiarity with data warehousing concepts.
Experience with ETL tools and data pipelines (e.g., SSIS, Azure Data Factory) is advantageous.
