The City of Gweru invites applications from suitably qualified and experienced candidates to fill the following vacant positions.
Building Inspectors x 2
Department: Spatial Planning and Development
Reporting To: Building Control Officer
Duties and Responsibilities
Job Purpose:
To ensure that building construction and development within the City complies with approved plans, Council by-laws, building regulations and relevant statutory requirements.
Qualifications and Experience
Qualifications and Experience:
A Bachelor of Technology Degree in Construction or an equivalent qualification from a recognised institution.
Journeyman Class 1 Artisan qualification, obtained after successful completion of a four-year apprenticeship in Bricklaying, or a Trade-Tested Class 1 Artisan qualification, is mandatory.
At least three years of relevant experience in building inspection or building control.
Knowledge of building regulations, Council by-laws and relevant planning requirements.
A valid clean Class 4 driver's licence will be an added advantage.

Strong knowledge of building construction and inspection procedures.
Attention to detail and accuracy.
Good report-writing and communication skills.
Sound judgement and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently and conduct field inspections.
Good interpersonal skills and ability to deal professionally with developers and members of the public.
