Job Description

We are seeking an energetic, multi-skilled, and versatile Boarding House Master to join our dedicated residential staff at an elite private school. Beyond managing the day-to-day welfare, safety, and discipline of boarders, the ideal candidate will actively contribute to campus life during school hours when students are in class.
This role is designed for an adaptable professional who brings additional practical skill sets, such as sports coaching, facility repairs and maintenance, or culinary/catering support, ensuring a productive, high-value contribution across campus throughout the full working day.

Duties and Responsibilities

* Pastoral Care & Supervision: Ensure student safety, well-being, and discipline while managing daily routines such as wake-up calls, room inspections, meal attendance, evening prep, and lights-out.
* Parental & Health Communication: Act as the primary liaison for parents, manage basic first-aid needs, coordinate medical care with the school nurse, and enforce emergency procedures.
* Residential Administration: Maintain attendance registers, log incidents, process leave requests, and plan structured weekend activities for boarders.

Depending with other Responsibilities

* Daytime Sports Coaching: Plan training sessions, coach school athletic teams, manage equipment, and prepare grounds during class hours.
* Campus Maintenance & Repairs: Perform regular facility inspections and carry out routine handy person tasks, including basic plumbing, carpentry, painting, and electrical fixes across campus.
* Catering & Kitchen Assistance: Support kitchen staff with food preparation, menu compliance, dining hall oversight, and hygiene maintenance.

Qualifications and Experience

*Relevant diploma or degree in Education, Sports Science, Hospitality/Culinary Arts, Facilities Management, Social Work, or a related field.
*Specialized Certifications (At least one required):
*Recognized sports coaching certificates or officiating accreditation (e.g., Rugby, Cricket, Swimming, Athletics).
*Formal vocational/trade qualification in maintenance (e.g., Carpentry, Plumbing, Electrical, Building Trades).
*Professional Culinary Arts qualification, Food Handler’s Certificate, or Hygiene & Food Safety Certification.
*Valid Advanced First Aid and CPR Certification (or commitment to obtain prior to appointment).
*Clean police clearance certificate and child protection/safeguarding clearance.
*Minimum 2–3 years of experience working in student residential care, youth mentorship, or boarding house management (preferably within an independent or private school setup).

Practical Daytime Expertise:
* Proven track record of coaching competitive school sports and running athletic programs.
* Hands-on experience in general building maintenance, trade repairs, and preventive facility management.
* Experience working in commercial kitchens, institutional catering, or large-scale meal preparation.
* Demonstrated ability to mentor, discipline, and support adolescent students in a structured, compassionate manner.
*Experience with record-keeping, basic report writing, inventory monitoring, and parent communication.
