Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and results-driven Waste-to-Energy Engineer to support the design, operation, optimisation, and maintenance of waste-to-energy systems and facilities. The successful candidate will play a critical role in converting municipal and industrial waste into renewable energy while ensuring operational efficiency, safety, and environmental compliance.

Duties and Responsibilities

Design, operate, and optimise waste-to-energy processes such as anaerobic digestion, incineration, gasification, or landfill gas recovery
Monitor plant performance and implement process improvements to maximise energy output and efficiency
Ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations
Conduct feasibility studies, energy balance analyses, and performance assessments
Support commissioning, operation, and maintenance of waste-to-energy plants
Liaise with contractors, regulators, and internal technical teams
Prepare technical reports, operating procedures, and regulatory documentation
Support research, innovation, and adoption of new waste-to-energy technologies

Qualifications and Experience

Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Environmental, or Energy Engineering)
Postgraduate qualification in Energy, Environmental Engineering, or Renewable Energy (an advantage)
Registration with a recognised professional engineering body
Minimum of 7 years’ experience in waste-to-energy, power generation, or industrial process plants
Strong understanding of waste treatment technologies, energy recovery systems, and emissions control
Experience with plant operations, performance optimisation, and regulatory compliance
