Applications are invited for the position of Agricultural Supervisor, an established post within the College's Works & Estates Department reporting to the Works & Estates Officer.

Duties and Responsibilities

Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will provide hands-on management and technical supervision of the College's agricultural enterprises, including the piggery, poultry unit, greenhouse, and vegetable production, so as to maximise productivity, profitability, and sustainability. The role encompasses:
1. Planning, coordinating and supervising all agricultural operations;
2. Developing and implementing annual production plans with output, revenue and cost-control targets;
3. Managing the procurement of inputs and the preparation of monthly production reports and budgets;
4. Supervising, directing and developing the agricultural staff;
5. Ensuring full compliance with applicable legislation, animal welfare standards, and the College's safeguarding, conduct, and health and safety policies, all in line with the College's Catholic and Jesuit ethos, its Vision, Mission, Values and policies, and its revenue objectives.

Qualifications and Experience

The ideal candidate will have:
• At least a Diploma in Agriculture, Animal Husbandry, Agronomy, or a related discipline. Candidates without a diploma but with demonstrable relevant experience and literacy will be considered.
• A minimum of three years' practical experience in agricultural enterprise management, covering both livestock and horticultural operations (five years where the applicant does not hold a diploma).
• Sound working knowledge of animal husbandry and crop production, with the ability to apply optimal husbandry practices to maximise yields and minimise losses.
• Familiarity with applicable legislation, including the Environmental Management Act, Veterinary Act, and Labour Act.
• Willingness to work within the Catholic traditions and ethos of St Ignatius College.
• Demonstrated maturity, professionalism, and sound judgment.
• Intermediate ICT literacy, including proficiency with record-keeping and reporting tools.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills.
•Unquestionable integrity, professional conduct, and a genuine commitment to safeguarding, animal welfare, and health and safety standards.
• Flexibility and readiness to work additional hours, including weekends, as required by the demands of livestock and crop production.
The successful candidate is expected to assume duty as soon as possible and should be prepared to commute to and from the College on working days with assistance from the College.
