Position: Accounting Clerk
Reporting To: Senior Accountant
Location: Harare
Employment Type: Contract
About the Role
We are seeking a diligent, organized, and detail-oriented Assistant Accountant / Accounting Clerk
to support our finance function. The ideal candidate should have practical experience capturing
financial transactions in accounting packages such as QuickBooks, Xero, or other recognized
accounting systems.
The role requires someone who can work under pressure, meet reporting deadlines, and coordinate the
collection of financial information from various branches or departments.

Duties and Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
• Capturing daily financial transactions accurately in accounting systems such as QuickBooks,
Xero, or similar packages.
• Performing regular cash and bank reconciliations.
• Coordinating the collection of financial information, receipts, schedules, and supporting
documents from various branches.
• Assisting in the preparation of weekly financial reports for the Senior Accountant and/or
Finance Manager.
• Maintaining organized financial records and filing supporting documentation.
• Following up on missing information, incomplete records, and outstanding reconciliations.
• Supporting month-end closing processes.
• Assisting with supplier, customer, and branch account reconciliations where required.
• Ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of financial data.
• Performing any other finance and administrative duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Experience

Minimum Qualifications and Experience
Applicants should have:
• At least a Diploma in Accounting, Business Studies, Finance, or a related program.
• Preferably at least one year of prior working experience in a similar accounting or finance
role.
• Hands-on experience using QuickBooks, Xero, or any other accounting package.
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
• Experience performing cashbook, bank, and cash reconciliations.
